Weed has been cut but swims above baits bite lock could do with a weed rake to clear the bottom of the swim. The bank side vegetation has been cut up to Horningsea church.
Big perch up to 2lbs have been caught with the species quite dominant in catches along with big eels. Roach sport slow and only small skimmers in silver fish catches made up from fishing pinkie on the hook.
Plenty of small dace chub and roach in the steamer weed with held back float tactics. Sweet corn on the hook prevents minnow attack!
Plenty of skimmers in double figure catches by the car park. Maggot best bait.
Fishing very well with wheat on the hook for roach to ten ounces. Carp to 20lb and Tench to over 7lb recorded. Around a dozen swims have been cleared thanks to the lads at Barford station.
Bream and Tench in early morning catches. Rudd to 2lb in selected swims down folly drove.
John Collom submitted the following excellent catch report for the Lark:
Evening,
Had a go on the River Lark on Sunday for the bream and tench. This was the first time I had fished it in the summer for a couple of years now, and was very happy with the outcome. Good to see the River Lark in fine summer form still.
I started fishing about 5am. After baiting up the area with a mix of sweet ground bait, breadcrumb, maggot and hemp. I baited the hook up with a couple of red maggots on a size 16 barbless hook, coupled to 4.4ib hook length and a medium cage feeder.
I started off with a few perch and roach, then the tip hooped round. It was a classic bream bite.
Struck into the fish and landed a immaculate 4ib bream.
After a few more perch later, I had a cracking bite. Struck into the fish and felt something hefty on the other end, then the hook length gave way. Gutted and did utter a few swear words. Not sure what it was, but may have been a very large tench or maybe a small carp. Who knows?
Anyway tackled up again , and half an hour later I had a very finicky bite, then the tip rattled round. After a fantastic scrap, I banked a 5ib 2oz tench. It was a cracking fish and my PB so far this year. I also had an eel and a few more perch then packed up about 10am.
Definitely worth a shot if you get a chance.

The weed is a problem and so take a weed rake.Twenty swims have been cut at upware but the in river weed moves around a lot so a rake is a must. Rudd roach and skimmers are the target in these swims. Tench at the cock up bridge but raking is essential.
Some very good sport with the extra water and flow. Some great catches of skimmers and also news of a double figure catch of good size Dace by the pub bridge.
Two 40lb plus fish from the B pit have been recorded to a night angler.
Plenty of double figure fish from the A pit with boillies dominant.Roach Rudd and bream all showing to maggot fished rigs.
Ben Mansfield had a lovely 17lb Common carp in the week.Swims do need a weed rake if you are after the silver fish.
Lots of small fish to maggot. Surface bait for low double figure carp.
Remains very quiet but tench and skimmers can be expected with the warm weather.
