The lode at Upware was our 3rd match of the season. Conditions were mainly bright with a very blustery wind coming over our shoulders which made presentation of bait difficult on the day.

Thank you to all that came out to help clear the swims ready for the match. It meant minimal clearing was required on the day. Going forward there are now 12 fishable swims up to the pylons. As usual most competitors wanted an early peg as most fish tend to hold near the lock end. Trevor Sturge made it back to back wins from Peg 1 with a weight of 7lb 11oz. His weight comprising of mainly Rudd, Roach and Perch. He also lost some larger fish along with some of his much loved antique pole floats! Mark Freeman was second from Peg 10 with a weight of 6lb 10oz. His catch comprising of a Tench weighing 4lb 9oz. Gwyn Andrews finished 3rd with a weight of 6lb 7oz again made up of small Roach, Rudd and Perch. John Reads plastic groundbait bowl flying into the river before the start of the match was a highlight. Some say you could hear the swearing in Soham! He did get it back! Our next match is on Sunday 30th July at the Old West river, Stretham. If you would like to attend please book in with Trevor as usual.
