The River Lark at Prickwillow greeted us for the 1 st match of the season. With the weather forecast saying a chance of thunder most of us expected to get wet! The water was slightly flowing and very clear and a thank you to all those that helped to clear swims which meant very little dragging or cutting was required on the day. There were fish topping all along the stretch which gave much optimism to all participants, but most knew an early draw was key to success. After all the initial pre match banter of who would turn up late and who will draw where, it was Kevin Saunders who drew the much fancied peg no 1 and comfortably won the match with 9lb 6oz. This catch was made up of mainly Rudd and skimmers. 2 nd position went to Bill Scott on peg 3 who managed a 5lb 11oz Tench in his 6lb 14oz total. 3 rd Position went to Gwyn Andrews on peg 6 with a total of 6lb 2oz. The predicted thunder thankfully never materialized but was replaced with bright sunshine which made for difficult fishing conditions for most. Weights were certainly better than last year and we look forward to the next match
