2019 Championship: Round 5

Points Match 5 Block Fen 11th August 2019

Ian again could not make the match so it again falls on me to report. Ian was due to fish and was all set to turn up for an 8 o’clock draw until I mentioned the draw was at 12.00 fishing 1.00 - 7.00. An airport pick up at 7.00 ending any thought of participation.

We had all types of weather sun, wind, rain during the match and with the wind blowing towards the far end of the lake we thought that may be the area to draw.

The match was yet again won by the Block Fen expert Rob Turner who picked up 3 Carp for 24lbs 10ozs. He even had the time to pull his peg from the draw then disappear off home for an hour, he said it was something to do with the alarm settings, but I think he knew he could pop back have a spot of lunch and still beat us.

Apologies for an error in my last report where I said that Trevor had been the unfortunate one at Burwell Lode to draw the only swim without a boat, it was in fact Ken Whitmore who had that swim. Ken again did not have a boat for this match but fared much better with just under 300 fish for 14lbs 6ozs and second place.

I managed 3rd place with 10lbs 4ozs which included a small Tench of about 1lb. In fact there were a few small Tench showed up on the day.

Trevor drew the point for the third Block Fen match running and came joint 4th with Gwen.
