2016 Championship: Round 8
This proved one of our better matches so far this season, with over 100 lb caught between the 13 anglers, an average of nearly 8 lb each. The top weight of 13 lb 9 oz went to Trevor, surprisingly because he was complaining from half way through about being tired/exhausted by the constant action and having to stop for a rest! Kevin has kindly offered to bring him a sun lounger for the next match. There was a string of 10 lb+ weights, second place going to Ian Claydon with 10 lb 10 oz, third to Jason O’Dell with 10 lb 2 oz and joint fourth to Steve Borrett and Mike Lynch each with 10 lb. There were some good 12 oz roach among the weights, those falling to caster probably being the best, although catches seemed almost indistinguishable between caster, hemp and maggot and these were evenly distributed along the Lode up to the last peg before Wicken Fen. There were otherwise no real specimens worth mentioning. There were some frustrated anglers, not least Rob Turner who was constantly heard to be cursing about his hooks not being sticky enough as he lost nearly as many fish as he landed. Ian Claydon ‘lost his boat’ half way through, seriously reducing his catch rate as he was forced to fish the now open water that had been churned by the moving boat. Everyone still seemed to enjoy themselves and all are no doubt looking forward to the next visit to Upware. We’re on The Lark at Prickwillow for the next match on 25th September, draw as usual at 08:00. Book on with Trevor if you haven't already.Het opgevraagde bestand is verwijderd.
