River Reports

River Ouse at Little Barford

Kevin Bullus sent us this catch report from The Ouse at Little Barford:
The river is running through with colour at a lovely pace right now, and several anglers have been catching well. The roach & dace are responding well to our plentiful supply of free bait, the excellent elderberry! If you don’t mind finishing the day with purple fingers you can bag up right now. St Neots angler Rick Perrin caught 13lb of silvers on berry, float fished right under his feet with half a dozen loose-fed berries per cast. If a resident jack pike hadn’t snaffled a few on the way in and spooked the shoal, Rick reckons he’d have bagged closer to 20lb. The carp seem to have disappeared for the time being, but the occasional tench & bream are showing on feeder rigs fished down the middle. Feed heavy early with this method and finish the day on it for the best results.
