River Reports

The Ouse

Kevin Bullus sent us this catch report from The Ouse:
The river is running through with colour at a lovely pace right now, and several anglers have been catching well. The roach & dace are responding well to our plentiful supply of free bait, the excellent elderberry! If you don’t mind finishing the day with purple fingers you can bag up right now. St Neots angler Rick Perrin caught 13lb of silvers on berry, float fished right under his feet with half a dozen loose-fed berries per cast. If a resident jack pike hadn’t snaffled a few on the way in and spooked the shoal, Rick reckons he’d have bagged closer to 20lb. The carp seem to have disappeared for the time being, but the occasional tench & bream are showing on feeder rigs fished down the middle. Feed heavy early with this method and finish the day on it for the best results.

The Cam

Ian Asplen sent us this catch report from the River Cam, Clayhithe:
Decided to have a look at a venue I have not fished for many years,i think it would have been a winter league match in the mid 80's for the club. So after a good walk from the car park at Clay hive bridge I reach the jungle ,it has not changed much but there is a lot more weed now.I decided to fish about 50yrds into the jungle where I remember there used to be some nice chub you could catch from the far bank on the waggler and bronze maggot. But with all the weed it was not possible. So out came the rake and cleared a nice hole mid river,I set up my pole to fish at 14m. Feed 6 balls with chop and casters and dead red pinkies, started with double red pinkie on hook.My first put in resulted in a small perch, second put in a small skimmer several more skimmers followed, after 3hours I had about 7lb of these little guys then I lost a good fish,so changed to worm and caster after five fruitless minutes I was into a nice bream of about 3lb,the last 2hour I had 8 more between 2 and 3lbs and one chub of 1lb. Finished the session with about 25-30lbs. I do not think anyone has fished here for a while but it's worth a try if you do not mind a walk and raking a swim. Ian Asplen.

Still Water Reports

Milton Country Park

Will Temple sent us this catch report from Milton Country Park:
After a slow start in peg 5, Archie caught a mixed bag of Roach, Rudd, and a Perch upto 5/6ozs on Maggot over ground bait. His little sister Charlotte even got in on the action with the help of Mummy catching her first fish a small roach, as well as helping Archie feed his swim regularly with her new found love of maggots... (well throwing them in)...

Heritage Lake

Liam Slee sent us this catch report from Heritage Lake, Cottenham:
Here's a few I have had from heritage recently, biggest being a 23lb common, mirror went 18lb and the ghosty went 10lb, unfortunaly the gate lock has been a little temperamental recently and a few members have been having problems with it, which unfortuantly has led to some idiotic members leaving the gate open, which is a shame, also it looks like some have driven around the gate as there is tracks going round it which also is not good, would you be able to put a post up reminding people not to, thank you.

Andersons Lake

Carl Toseland sent us this catch report from Andersons Lake:
I thought I would email you the carp my dad Ray Toseland caught while we were fishing Andersons lake about 3 weeks ago for your catch report, it was taken ledgering on the bottom with bread and it weighed in at 5 pounds, I have been getting quite a few very small roach on just about any bait I used such as maggot, sweetcorn, bread. We used to fish the river in overcote day and night when it was over and swavesey angling society as my dad has fished it since he was a lad but we gave up a fair few years ago after it produced no results for ages and just became to weedy to fish, we noticed you have taken over the water now so we bought a membership each with the intention of trying it again. I occasionally fish the 100 foot in Sutton as I live close by but we have been enjoying Anderson's lake so much we haven't really tried anywhere else on the ticket, it is impeccably maintained, the grass is always freshly cut when we've arrived and it is always very quiet, we have only seen one other couple so far & I like the fact it is very secure with the gates so you can just relax & enjoy the day. Would like to say thank you to all that keep it in such great condition & im sure me & my dad will enjoy many more happy days fishing here.
