Hugh travelled from Dorset to fish the River Lark for Tench. Hugh grew up in Ely before moving away and so he wanted to revisit where he fished in his childhood. Hugh sent us this report from his day on the Lark:
Thank you Graham for all your advice about the Lark. As you'll see from the attached, I had a grand time tenching in the traditional way and caught a couple, plus lost and got broken by a couple too, despite 6lb line straight through. They are quite feisty so I didn't risk breaking my pole. The Lark is lovely, (even tho' a lot of duck weed at this late season), but there's too many fish in the river and I had a job getting past them to contact the tench ... a fun problem to have! No wonder it produces so many good pike. Anyway, thank you again for all your help ... much enjoyed the visit and will be back before too long. Will try earlier in the season next year in the hope they aren't so cunning! All the best for now ... Hugh.
